The Burlington College board of trustees named Dr. Carol Moore as interim president Friday morning.

The board and Moore met with faculty, staff, and students in a town hall meeting, according to a news release.

Moore was formerly a president of Lyndon State College and has more than 40 years of education experience, according to Burlington College.

At Lyndon State College she led the college's first major capital campaign, raising $10 million.

Moore has more than 40 years advancing the educational experience—as a professor, an academic dean and most recently, as the former president of Lyndon State College. During her tenure, she successfully led the college through a revision of the mission through strategic planning, increased enrollment and retention, grew academic programs, and completed the college's first major capital campaign raising $10 million.

"I am fully confident that Carol is capable of moving the College towards the goals of financial stability, enrollment growth, and a bright future," said Burlington College board chairman Yves Bradley in a news release

"Our task now is to rekindle the 'fire' for Burlington College," Moore said.

Moore replaces interim president Michael Smith, who was part of a three-person leadership team named after the sudden resignation of President Christine Plunkett this summer.
