COLCHESTER – A 66-year-old woman was killed and several people were injured in a multi-vehicle crash Saturday night on U.S. 7, Colchester police said.

Police Chief Jennifer Morrison said one person was dead at the scene following the crash shortly after 7 p.m.

The name of the deceased was being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Colchester officers were still at the scene Saturday night sorting out what caused the crash.

Morrison said none of the survivors had life-threatening injuries.

Multiple ambulances were at the scene, which was north of Elm Hill Farm.

Several backup police departments, including Milton, Essex, Winooski and state police also were asked to respond.

Morrison said the CPD asked the Vermont State Police Reconstruction Team to help with the investigation.
