Sanders wins Vermont, Oklahoma, Colorado, Minnesota

11:25 p.m.

Bernie Sanders won the Colorado and Minnesota caucuses, giving the Vermont senator four primary wins on the evening. Hillary Clinton won in Massachusetts, giving her seven Super Tuesday victories.

Clinton has also won in Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia.

9:15 p.m.

The Associated Press declared Bernie Sanders the winner in the Oklahoma Democratic primary, giving the Vermont senator his second Super Tuesday victory of the night.

8 p.m.

The Associated Press is projecting Donald Trump the winner in Republican primaries in Alabama, Georgia, Massachusetts and Tennessee.

Hillary Clinton was declared the winner in Democratic primaries in Alabama and Tennessee.

7 p.m. 

Bernie Sanders is the projected winner of  Vermont Democratic presidential primary.

His rival for the nomination, Hillary Clinton, meanwhile, was projected to win Georgia and Virginia, according to calls made by news networks including The Associated Press and CNN moments after the polls closed at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

With less than 1 percent of the returns in, the democratic socialist from Vermont was projected to best former Secretary of State Clinton by a wide margin.

Sanders was scheduled to address supporters later Tuesday night at a rally at the Champlain Valley Expo in Essex Junction.

Matt Dunne, who spent Town Meeting Day travelling around Vermont, had to leave his own campaign event early to head to Essex to introduce Bernie Sanders.

The gubernatorial candidate was asked to introduce Sanders last night, his campaign manager said. Dunne spoke briefly to guests, including City Councillor Jane Knodell and Senator Philip Baruth, before his manager rushed him out of the room.

SHELBURNE - Cami Thibodeau came out of the Shelburne Municipal Office Tuesday morning after casting her vote for Hillary Clinton for the Democratic nomination. Thibodeau said she had strong views about the primary race.

SOUTH BURLINGTON - Chris Nahstoll stood outside the Orchard School polling station in South Burlington, braving morning temperatures that was in the teens before taking the wind into consideration. Nahstoll, who was holding a sign for Meaghan Emery, who is seeking another term on the City Council, backs Bernie Sanders for the Democratic nomination.

SOUTH BURLINGTON - Voter Arthur Desmarais, a five year resident of South Burlington, says he feels it is his duty to come out and vote on Town Meeting Day. A former Burlington resident, Desmarais voted for Bernie Sanders in the presidential primary, saying he respects the U.S. Senator because "he's just speaking the truth."

SOUTH BURLINGTON - Winfield Holt, a South Burlington resident, voted for Bernie Sanders on Tuesday, he said. Holt said he believes Sanders is honest and speaks about issues that are important to young people like Holt, such as the price of higher education.

SHELBURNE - Mark Lewis was standing outside of the Shelburne Municipal Office holding a sign encouraging voters to write his name in for town constable. Lewis said he missed the filing deadline to get on the ballot. Lewis is a supporter of Bernie Sanders in the presidential primary.

SOUTH BURLINGTON - Republican gubernatorial candidate Bruce Lisman was campaigning outside the Orchard School polling station in South Burlington Tuesday morning in the bitter cold. Lisman said he is a supporter of Ohio Gov. John Kasich in the primary because "he's the last governor who's done things." Vermont candidate for governor face their primary in August.

BURLINGTON - Jim Schlosser, a resident of Ward 5 and a member of Vermont's Progressive Party, cast his vote for Bernie Sanders around 8 a.m. Tuesday morning. The polling site, located at Burlington Electric Department on Pine Street, had about 20 voters weighing in on local and national ballots.
