Ride-service company Lyft will likely come Burlington.

The announcement came Thursday afternoon via Mayor Miro Weinberger's Twitter account.

"More innovative transportation options for #BTV residents + visitors - welcome @lyft," the tweet stated.

The City Council will be asked Monday to approve a formal agreement between Lyft and the city that outlines the city's vehicle-for-hire audit procedures.

Lyft has been trying to overtake Uber, which already operates in Burlington, as the top U.S. ride-sharing company. USA Today reported in early March that Lyft had recently added 54 cities to its map for a total of 300 cities and was looking to raise $500 million.
